2) Overview

Overview before getting into the different word classes

Before we get stuck into the different word classes, I feel it is important to get a bit of an overview of the different building blocks that make up the language. I will have to mention a few word classes during this process, but don’t worry if it is a little bit confusing. The main reason I want to introduce all this now is because the following concepts will be applied again and again when looking at word classes, and so it is good to have some overview of them before beginning.

Here is a list of what is to come:

3) Vowels, consonants and syllables

4) Subject and predicate

5) Objects

6) Phrases and clauses

7) Sentences

Let’s start with vowels, consonants and syllables
